One name on the warranty.

The story behind it

Built around one goal:
do the job right.

I started Mitten Made Concrete because I was tired of watching contractors treat people's homes like checkboxes. Rushed prep. Skipped details. "Good enough" finishes that look fine in month one and embarrassing in year three. That's not the work I wanted my name attached to.

So I built something simple: one name on the truck, one name on the warranty. When you call, you're talking to me. When we walk the job, it's me. When the concrete gets finished and cut, it's still me — no sales rep handing you off to a crew you've never met.

Concrete is unforgiving. Shortcuts show up in year two. That's why I spend more time on base prep, drainage, and reinforcement than most contractors spend on the whole job. If the boring stuff is done right, the finish takes care of itself — and your driveway, patio, or walkway still looks clean after ten Michigan winters.

Our Standards

Commitments we actually keep.

Every contractor claims to be honest, professional, and reliable. Here's what we actually commit to on paper — no ambiguity, no fine print.

We show up when we say we will.

You'll know the day, the time, and what to expect. If anything changes — weather, material, anything — we call you before it affects your schedule.

We don't pour over bad concrete.

If a slab is failing, pouring over it is a cover-up that fails faster. We rip out, prep, and replace so it actually lasts. No shortcuts disguised as savings.

We give you a real number.

Straight pricing with no surprise upsells mid-job. If something changes the scope, we stop and talk first. You decide — not us.

We leave your property clean.

Debris hauled out, job site tidy, no piles sitting for days. We respect that we're working at your home, not a construction site.

We tell you the truth — even when it costs us the job.

If your project doesn't need what you think it needs, we'll say so. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you that too. Honesty wins longer than a one-time sale.

We stand behind the work.

If something isn't right after the job is done, we address it like pros. No running, no excuses, no ghosting. Our name is on it — we own it.

Straight Talk

Red flags to watch for when hiring any concrete contractor.

Whether you hire us or someone else, here's what separates pros from the guys who'll leave you with problems. Use this list. It'll save you money.

Red Flag

"We can just pour over it"

If your slab is cracked, uneven, or sinking, pouring over it is a band-aid. The problem underneath doesn't go away — it just shows up faster under the new concrete.

Proper work rips out and replaces.
Red Flag

No written quote or contract

If the quote is just a number texted to you, you have no protection. A real contractor puts scope, thickness, reinforcement spec, and timeline in writing before they touch a thing.

Get it on paper, always.
Red Flag

Suspiciously low price

Concrete has real material and labor costs. If one quote is 40% under the others, somebody is cutting corners — thinner pour, skipped reinforcement, rushed base prep. You'll pay the difference later.

Cheap today, expensive tomorrow.
Red Flag

Cash only, no license

Licensed contractors pull permits where required, carry insurance, and file taxes. Cash-only contractors usually don't. If something goes wrong, you have zero recourse.

Always verify license & insurance.
Red Flag

Pressure to sign today

"This price is only good if you sign now" is a sales tactic, not a contractor tactic. Real pros give you time to think, compare, and ask questions. Pressure means something's off.

A good quote waits for you.
Red Flag

No photos of actual work

Every legitimate contractor has a photo library. If the only pictures you see are stock photos or blurry phone shots, that's a sign they either don't have the work or don't want you seeing it.

Ask to see real, local projects.

The Experience

What it's like to work with us.

Clear steps. Clean work. No surprises. Here's how a typical project runs from first call to final cut.

Quick Walk & Straight Quote

We look at access, slope, drainage, and layout. Then you get a clear number, real options, and zero pressure.

Schedule & Prep

We handle tear-out, base prep, and layout so pour day goes smooth. You'll know what's happening each day.

Pour & Finish

Place, finish, edge, and cut — with focus on drainage and clean lines. Drew is on site for every pour.

Aftercare

Clear instructions on when to walk, when to drive, how to protect the concrete. Done right means still sharp in ten years.

Our commitment:
we stand behind every slab we pour.

If something isn't right after the job is done, we address it. No finger-pointing, no ghosting, no "that's not our problem." Our name is on every project — and we treat it like it matters.

Southeast Michigan Roots

Born in the Mitten. Built for it.

Everything we pour has to survive Michigan — salt, freeze-thaw, humid summers, brutal winters. We know what concrete does here because we've lived here, worked here, and learned the hard way what holds up and what doesn't.

We work across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties — from Warren and Sterling Heights to Royal Oak and Detroit. Local crew, local equipment, local accountability.
