Concrete Pool Decks
Built for Michigan Summers.

Slip-resistant finish, water that drains away from the pool instead of into it, and clean bands that frame the water. Formed, poured, and finished by the same crew — often in a single day.

Why Pool Decks Are Their Own Animal

A pool deck is not just a patio near water.

Constant splash-out, wet feet, pool chemicals, and Michigan freeze-thaw all hit the same slab. Get the slope or the finish wrong and you end up with a slick, stained deck that pushes water back toward the pool.

Slope set away from the water

Every section is graded so runoff moves out toward the yard, not back into your pool. This gets dialed in during forming — it cannot be fixed after the pour.

Traction where it matters

A broom finish gives grip for wet feet. We keep it consistent across the whole deck so there are no slick spots by the steps or the ladder.

Joints planned around the pool

Control joints laid out to follow the shape of the water and to control where the slab relieves stress. Straight lines that look intentional, not random saw cuts.

Edges finished clean

Eased, rounded edges at the pool line — no sharp lip to catch a bare foot, and a border that frames the pool instead of fighting it.

Wrapping a pool means forming every side, holding the grade the whole way around, and finishing before the slab gets away from you. That takes a crew that shows up ready and knows the sequence.

  • Formed the full perimeter with consistent width on every side
  • Graded away from the water so splash-out runs to the yard
  • Even broom finish across the entire deck for safe footing
  • Clean joint bands that square up with the pool edge

What We Build

New Decks, Replacements, and Everything Around the Pool

Whether the pool is going in this season or the deck around it has been failing for years.

New pool decks

Full perimeter decks around new inground pools. We coordinate around your pool installer so the concrete goes in at the right stage.

Pool deck replacement

Cracked, heaved, or settling deck comes out completely. We rebuild the base and pour new instead of patching over a failing slab.

Deck extensions

More room for chairs, a grill, or a lounge area. Tied into the existing deck with a clean joint so it does not read as an afterthought.

Walkways to the pool

Connecting paths from the house, driveway, or patio out to the pool deck — same finish, same standard.

Finish Options

Pick the Look. We'll Tell You What Holds Up.

Not every finish belongs around water. Here's the straight version.

Broom Finish

The workhorse for pool decks. Best traction when wet, stays cooler than dark finishes, and easiest to keep clean. This is what we recommend most.

Exposed Aggregate

Excellent grip and hides splash marks well. Textured, natural look. Needs sealing on a schedule to hold up against pool chemicals.

Stamped Border

A stamped band framing a broom-finish field — decorative where you see it, safe where you walk. Sealed with a non-slip additive.

Questions

Pool Deck FAQ

Most residential pool decks are formed and poured in a single day once prep is done. Prep and grading may take a day before that depending on the site and what is coming out.
Standard gray broom finish stays noticeably cooler than dark stamped or colored concrete. If you want color, we will talk through shades that will not bake in July.
A broom finish gives real traction wet. Where sealer is used, we add a non-slip additive. Smooth troweled finishes do not belong around a pool and we will tell you that up front.
Sometimes. If the base is sound and the damage is isolated, sections can be cut out and replaced. If the base has failed or the deck is heaving in multiple spots, partial work is a temporary fix and we will say so.
Yes. Concrete goes in at a specific stage of a pool build. We coordinate on timing so nobody is standing around and nothing gets poured too early.
You can usually walk on it the next day. Give it a week before heavy furniture and normal pool traffic. We will give you exact timing based on the weather during your pour.
